“Zing Whop”

Over the last year or so, one of my teenage boys began to develop his very own made up language. It often became difficult to understand exactly what he was trying to say. His needs, his wants, his requests, and his statements were all a mix up of his own creativeness. He would randomly speak out phrases such as “zing whop” or “she’s gonna willow” some things later evolved into…..actual sentences. “Hey mom, my shoes are over there in the willow” Later learning, that the “willow” was the closet, or the house, the car, the phone…which ever item he decided at that moment! He is our son, we love him, and we want to be able to communicate with him: in love and at his level. So, as his vocabulary grew, so did our translation abilities.

Do you ever feel like God speaks in a similar type of mysterious language? Do you feel like you never really understand what He is trying to say to you? Is He really calling you into this ministry, or does He really want you to pursue that job? Or do you even struggle at times just grasping the message in your daily reading?

For God does speak—now one way, now another
— though man may not perceive it. Job 33:14

You are NOT alone my friend. God speaks to us in many different ways. I will list at least a few here:

©     The word of God. Yes, the Holy Bible IS the living word of God!

2Timothy 3:16

©     The inner still, small voice of the Holy Spirit!

Acts 13:2

©     The advice and counsel of men and women of God!

Proverbs 12:15

©     The Audible voice of God

Acts 9:4-5

©     Visions (some people really DO see things from God)

Read about Peters vision in Acts 10: 9-18

©     Angels

Read about the announcement of Jesus’ birth in Luke 1:26-38

Of course I also believe that God can speak to our hearts through certain circumstances, situations, conviction and peace. Sometimes things may not be obvious, but if we look for it….it’s there!

God works and speaks to us in many different ways. Do you love God? Do you long to communicate with Him, in love and at His level? Ask Him, seek Him, study Him, and I promise, you will learn to hear Him!
