Confusiong Love….or Very Clear Instruction?

Standard

I sadly, recently read a status of a friend that read:

Love is the most confusing emotion ever created

I simply replied that I didn’t feel it was confusing, and that it came with very clear instruction.

This morning it is on my heart again as I read the VERY scripture I was secretly suggesting to her and her agreeable audience.

God provides us very clear instruction on Love when we walk in His word.

1 Corinthians 13:4-6

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Is God quite clear on the emotions of Love?

Absolutely

Do we often confuse these ourselves?

Absolutely!

I think there are times we get so wrapped up in following our hearts, as I’ve spoken about before, that we forget to follow Jesus. This leads us into confusion.God is not the author of confusion

1 Corinthians 14:3

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace

Does that stop us from becoming confused?

Of course not!

Often times in my own marriage, or parenting role; I do not display the attributes of love toward my family, friends, coworkers or even strangers. Nor do I have those attributes of Love displayed toward me. My struggle with this is likely because I am not walking in His word as I should; I am not spending time in reading and in prayer like I should. Therefore, widening the gap between my Savior and my heart.

When we widen the gap between ourselves and Him, we also widen the gap for the enemy to fit in…..

And he IS the King of all lies.

John 8:44

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

So, if God IS love and we were created in His image….

What’s the confusion?

1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
