This is the stuff….

I was so excited to get up this morning, knowing that I would be photographing my day for a post/link up tomorrow.  (why that excites me and other things don’t remains my mystery)
So,  I awoke (on time) which is often quite difficult for me, and since the basement has recently flooded we have boys sleeping in the living room so I couldn’t exactly go sit at the table with my coffee and Bible as I normally would have IF  when I get up on time.
Maybe it was the motivation of not wanting to photograph my alarm clock twice, maybe I just slept good, but I didn’t go back to sleep. I turned the bed side lamp on and began my day with prayer and Gods word…
When it was time to wake the brood boys, I was able to approach them with a gentle loving attitude…one that they actually responded to. Which in return left me some free time….to make them breakfast…:)
The youngest had an accident (shh…don’t tell him I told you) which means an additional shower to squeeze in this morning…
After my sweet hubby took the boys to school, I waited a good hour or more for my shower; and it was still cut short….very short due to cold water! {{brrr}}
There were plenty of “kinks” in my morning:
  • I couldn’t use my “normal” morning routine.
  • When I was preparing breakfast, I mindlessly cracked and egg right into the garbage.
  • I ran out of coffee, so I had to drink instant this morning.
  • I was graced with a cold shower this morning.
  • I get an extra 2 loads of bedding laundry (on top of the extra from the basement I’m still working on)
  • the sole to my favorite pair of boots is separating from the boot. (and given the fact we are trying to be diligent with a budget…I can’t exactly go buy a new pair)

Sure I could have easily allowed this series of little minor mishaps set the tone for my day, but something was different today….
My foundation was different.
It started with Him, with His word and His lesson….
and it honestly changes how we react….to “stuff”
and as I go through my morning, I was reminded of the song by Francesca Battistelli “This is the stuff
In the middle of my little mess, I forget how big I’m blessed
Today…I choose Not to forget.
Do you struggle with starting your day in prayer and study?
Do you notice a difference in your attitude towards life when you do begin your day with Him?

  1. Target had similar boots on clearance the last time I visited. Might be worth a peek to see if they fit into the budget. When they were $22, I didn’t want them. When they were down to $7, I took a pair home.
